The Capitol

Taken at the capitol in Jackson, Mississippi... I have always been mesmerized by the elegance of the marble and the complexity of the architecture. We can all thank the Illinois Central Railroad for paying for construction of this marvelous building in 1903 in the form of owed back taxes. As a child I used to enjoy going to see the giant Christmas tree that is erected in the rotunda every year. The grounds also holds one of the replicas of the infamous Liberty Bell of which there were only 53 made. On top of the 180 foot dome sits a solid copper and gold plated eagle, it shows the dedication to our great country and our state all across downtown.
